It places like wall decor, is seamless (thanks to simsza for the shading tutorial link <3) and comes in a multitude of colours. So this is what I came up with: 3D wainscoting. I don’t have the time or patience for that. I want to be able to pick the wainscoting and wall separately, but alas, that would mean millions of wall and wainscot combinations.
When it comes to walls, it is especially evident with wainscoting. Not as much as I thought, but when it comes to some aspects of the game, I really, really do.
